The invitation you choose tells your guests so much more than the type, date, time, and place of your event. It tells them how to dress and what type of gift to give to you. Think about it, a birthday gift is probably going to be a little different than a wedding gift. The attire for both may also be different. What’s worn to a backyard wedding cookout will DEFINITELY be different from what is worn to a wedding that starts at 6:00 PM.
To set the correct tone and ensure that your invitation is memorable, buy the BEST your budget can afford. It’s the first thing your guests will see and you want them to be excited and experience that WOW factor when they open the envelope. A well put together invitation does that, regardless of the cost.
When working with your stationer, be forthright about your budget and what it includes. Doing so will save both of you time, energy and possibly heartache. There’s nothing worse than falling in love with an invitation and then discovering that it is double the amount you have budgeted. Also tell your stationer about any colors or themes you plan to incorporate into your special event, so the invitation can contribute to the overall impact. Invitations are available in a dizzy array of materials, including paper, velvet, wood, and acrylic. Printing methods also contribute to setting the tone, but that’s a different blog post, so stay tuned!
All the best!
