In an earlier post, I mentioned several couples who have opted to compose their own wedding invitation wording. I feel I need to add some clarification to that statement. Yes, they composed their own wording, BUT they made sure all of the pertinent information was there, AND it was tastefully worded. There were no veiled insults to family and friends, no indications that this was a “free for all invited” open bar where everyone could get crazy drunk and trash the reception location. And NO, their invitation wording did NOT include curse words, requests for monetary gifts only, or notations about the reception being “adults only”. There were also no references to the wife-to-be agreeing to do all the housework and cooking or other chauvinistic statements from the 1950’s. In short, guests were EXCITED to receive the invitation and looked forward to the event.
Here’s what they said.

Although this is very informal, the intro alone makes me feel like this will be an event where EVERYONE will have a good time. They went on to give pertinent information about the event, like who’s hosting it, the date, time and location. You can always opt for something a lot more formal, that still reflects you and your fiance’s personalities while setting the tone for a PARTY! When in doubt about your wording, talk to your stationer, who will give you an honest opinion. I know I would!
