Ordering invitations for any event is a BIG DEAL.  Here we present the first of several posts of some important information you need to know BEFORE you take that final step and commit to a design.  The list isn’t all inclusive and isn’t in any special order; it’s information we thought you should be aware of so you can make an informed decision.

  1. Think about your style and taste – What do you like?  Do you have an affinity for all things rustic or in an Art Deco style?  If so, your wedding or party is the opportunity for you to indulge yourself, and let everyone know more about what you love.  Now, I’m not saying you should go all out, and decorate everything in sight, but adding splashes and dashes of your style and taste can go a LONG way towards making any special event even more special.
  2. To theme or not to theme, that is the question!  Your theme might be a hobby or occupation that both you and your fiancé are known to love, such as music, science or cooking.  Most themes are fairly easy to incorporate into a custom invitation design.
  3. Colors – Are teal and navy your favorite colors or are you a gray and yellow type of person?  Invitations are available in a myriad of shapes, sizes, materials and colors.  Your favorite color combo can be incorporated into all of the paper products that are used for your special event.  You just have to decide on your all-time favorites.
  4. Have a realistic idea of your budget – Be honest and upfront about your stationery budget and what that budget includes.  It will save both you and your stationer time and energy. Since the invitation sets the tone for your event and is your first communication with your guests, purchase what makes a good first impression, sings to your soul and is within budget.
  5. Other stationery add-ons – There are a number of very nice additions that can be included in your stationery order.  Some will enhance your invitation design and others will be used as “day of” items.  That list can include programs, imprinted napkins, table numbers, escort and thank you cards, so don’t forget to include them when considering your budget.
